Metropolitan

Nestled between San Francisco’s Financial District and the Embarcadero, the award-winning Metropolitan was the first major development built in the Rincon Hill/South of Market District after the 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake. This high-rise residential project is comprised of two towers above a three-story podium with four levels of below-ground parking. The Metropolitan houses 342 high-end condominium units – 500-square-foot studios, 800-square-foot 1-bedrooms, 1,200-square-foot 2-bedrooms – of which 41 units are below market rate. Residential amenities include a health club, indoor pool, community room, theatre, outdoor pavilion with roof terrace, and a formal porte-cochere drop-off in front of a secure lobby. Metallic treatment of the curtain wall elements contrasts with the monolithic nature of the pre-cast producing a rich textured façade. The project acknowledges the historic San Francisco tradition of bay windows in a contemporary manner.
